Incident Information and Security Status
Current Security Status
The UK threat level has been reduced to
SEVERE as of 4th July 2007
The threat level SEVERE 'means that
there is a high likelihood of future terrorist attacks and
indicates a continuing high level of threat to the UK' (
source MI5 )
There is a continued need for vigilance and adherence to
security protocols.
The following is an extract from the advice offered by the UK
Intelligence Community Online:
How the Public should respond to different National Threat
Levels
Public vigilance is always important regardless of the current
national threat level, but it is especially important given the
current national threat. Sharing national threat levels with the
general public keeps everyone informed and explains the context for
the various security measures (for example airport security or bag
searches) we may encounter as we go about our daily lives.
If you have information about possible terrorist activity, call the
Anti-Terrorist Hotline: 0800 789 321.
The Anti-Terrorist Hotline is for tip offs and confidential
information. For warnings about possible bombs or other immediate
threats please call 999.
Further information is available by clicking the MI5 link on the
right hand side of this page.

Be Alert - Protect Yourself and your Community
Following the discovery of 2 car bombs in London and the car
bomb incident in Glasgow during the last week in June 2007 we must
continue to remain vigilant.
- Be aware of anything out of the ordinary, people acting
unusually or unattended bags or packages.
- Please be aware of your own actions and do not leave your
belongings unattended, even for a short time.
- Follow your business security procedures, wear identity badges
and challenge any persons entering your premises without the
appropriate passes and refer them to your security
management.
- If you see or hear something suspicious, call the Police
Switchboard 0845 456 7000 or in an emergency “999”. (If on
public transport – tell the staff immediately
- If you see or hear something suspicious when in a shop,
restaurant etc – tell the owner/occupier immediately.
- Listen to local radio or see the TV for any public advice and
information.
It is important that we remain solid as a community. The acts
carried out in London were perpetrated by TERRORISTS irrespective
of religion or culture. We can fight these terrorists by not
allowing them to divide our community.
The Emergency Management Unit is dedicated to supporting the
needs of the community and will be happy to assist with any
concerns. Advice on dealing with suspicious packages, post room
protocols etc. is available from the Police and your Emergency
Management Unit.“Be alert but not alarmed”
