* For Bath and North East Somerset and Fire these percentage increases are given on notional figures calculated by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) for 2003/04 in January 2004 following the transfer of Fire to separate Precepting status. No equivalent figure for Council tax charged for “Fire” within the Bath and North East Somerset charge existed prior to this year. The Bath Band D charge for 2003/04 was £940.48p, of which £38.76 was designated to be for Fire. The adjusted figure is therefore £901.72p for Bath and North East Somerset and £38.76 for Fire for 2003/04. However the ODPM recognises the difficulty of comparing council tax increases and the confusion this will cause, so some caution should be exercised in reading these comparisons.
