Local Economy - Development
What we do at the Council?
The Economic Development Service aims to support a vibrant and
sustainable local economy in Bath & North East Somerset
by:-
- supporting local businesses and creation/retention of jobs
- promoting investment in communities
- promoting key industries such as Tourism
- developing the local workforce
The Service leads on the implementation and monitoring of
Towards 2013, a ten year Economic Strategy which is shortly to
be revised in light of the Bath, Keynsham, Midsomer Norton and
Radstock Vision Work carried out by the Council. The strategy to
date has been developed in partnership with a wide range of local
organisations and partnership is key to the work of the Service
which has strategic delivery arrangements in place covering
business advice and area regeneration.
Over the last three years the Service has attracted
over £2.5 million funding for regeneration initiatives, facilitated
access to training and learning for over 2,000 people, dealt with
in excess of 1,200 business enquiries and worked with 300 film
productions in the area.
