Bath City Centre

Bath City is a World Heritage Site, a place of unique architectural splendour.  Famed for attractions such as the Roman Baths, the Abbey, Pulteney Bridge and other architectural gems, Bath attracts visitors from across the world.  It is also a centre of major importance to the West of England.  A significant number of people live in the City Centre and overall Bath has a residential population of around 80,000 people.  It is a major retail centre attracting shoppers from across the sub-region and beyond.  It is also an important employment centre, particularly in the office and other service sectors.

The City is looking to the future.  Bath and North East Somerset Council, working with a range of stakeholders and partners sees great opportunity for continuing this story of success.  In its role community leadership, the Council is embarking on a project to establish a long term vision for the City Centre and a framework to stimulate and guide change and improvement.

Key drivers include pressure and opportunities for retail expansion, new business accommodation, building upon and enhancing facilities for visitors, housing, transport improvements and enhancement of an already high quality urban environment.

Details of the development ahead for Bath City are detailed on the Major Projects pages.

The Council works with a range of partners to promote Bath City Centre including Bath Tourism Plus.

Bath also plays host to a number of major annual events and festivals.  For further, general information go to:-
