Birth - Historic Searches
A certificate relating to a Birth Death or Marriage that
occurred in Bath and North East Somerset since July 1837 may be
obtained from this office. All of the Births that occured in
our district between July 1837 and December 2007 can be found on
the Bath
BMD website. We would hope to process your
application within two days. If applying
through the post please give us a daytime telephone number,
and a stamped self-addressed envelope, (please note that
certificates are A4 size). Cheques should be made payable to
"Superintendent Registrar".

We can accept all major cards except Visa Electron or American
Express.
Birth Certificates
There are two types of birth certificate. The SHORT
certificate which just contains the name, date and place of birth,
costs £5.50, the FULL certificate is a copy of the entire
entry in the register, giving the parents details. This costs
£7.00.
You would need to supply the following information.
- The full name and surname (at the time of birth)
- The date and place of birth
- The parents full names and surnames and,
where applicable, the mother's maiden
surname.
