The Disabled Student Allowance (DSA) is for students at university or college studying a degree/higher national diploma (HND)/Foundation degree (FD) or post graduate course. The DSA helps pay for extra costs a student may have to pay when studying their course as a direct result of their:

• disability,
• mental-health condition or
• specific learning difficulty.

The allowances can help with the cost of a non-medical personal helper, items of specialist equipment, travel and other course-related costs.
