Direct Debit
- This is the cheapest way for us to collect payments and
helps to keep your council tax down.
- Direct Debit allows you to keep your account up to date without
having to remember to make a payment every month.
- You remain in full control of your money.
- You have a choice of two payment dates - the 1st or the 15th of
each month.
Your payments will automatically be deducted from your bank or
building society account. No amount will be deducted without you
having been given notice and you can cancel the Direct Debit at any
time. If you would like to pay your Council Tax or Business Rates
by Direct Debit you can request a form as detailed below.

Other Options
Council Offices are open during normal business
hours and are available to take payments.
The main Council Connect Offices have self-service payment
kiosks. These allow you to make a payment by cash,
Debit or Credit Card and also deposit cheque payments -
in most cases without having to queue. Automatic
receipts are provided for the payment(s) you have
made.
Please note that all cheque payments must include the
relevant details on the back of your cheque e.g. your council tax
or rent account number, your address and a contact
number. Envelopes are provided for you to deposit your cheque
in the kiosks.
Please check our list of Council Offices
to find the nearest location to you.
Payments at your local Post Office.
You can pay your Council Tax and Somer Housing Rent at your
local Post Office. Payments can be made using your plastic payment
card. Please note you must always allow at least 7 days for
the Post Office payments to reach your council tax account.
All cheques should be made payable to “Post Office Ltd”.
Please also keep your receipt as this is your proof of
payment.
To request a Post Office payment card to enable you to do this,
please email your full name, address and council tax account number
to
