Freedom of Information Policy (continued)

Data Protection

A request may refer solely to, or include among other things, a request for personal information. Where the information requested is personal data, as defined by the Data Protection Act 1998, this will be exempt under the FOIA.

In such instances the request should be forwarded to the Council's Information Governance Team where it will be dealt with appropriately according to the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998.
