Sustainability is relevant to all of us, all the time.
There are consequences for every decision we make; where we live,
how we travel, what we eat, how we shop and what we throw
away.
The most urgent sustainability issue of our times is climate
change. The council has recognised this and made climate change its
sustainability priority and one of its corporate improvement
priorities.
The vision for Bath and North East Somerset Council, as community
leader is “To become an authority that is moving towards a strong
and diverse low carbon economy, cutting carbon emissions through
avoiding unnecessary energy consumption, increasing energy
efficiency and switching to sustainable sources of energy, bringing
our environmental footprint within natural limits and delivering
improvements in quality of life, health and community well-being as
a result."
