Household Waste - Special Collections for Large Items
Bulky waste collection service
The Council offers a bulky domestic waste
collection service for the removal of bulky items from outside
your home that are not collected through the
weekly service. Please note this service includes the
collection of fridges and freezers.
The service has been created to help people who cannot take for
example the larger items of furniture, household & garden
equipment, and fridges to the Recycling
Centres.
This collection service is chargeable and your items should
be collected within 7 working days (no more than 2 weeks), unless
we need to make special arrangements (e.g. call to arrange the
collection in advance) in which case it may take a little longer to
fulfil your request. In most cases we will be able to advise
you of the day of collection when we accept your payment (if
ordering via Council Connect).
We will normally pick up items from outside your house, anytime
from 8.00am, unfortunately we are not able to
specify any time during your collection day.
We will collect reusable items from inside your house (which we
will then pass on to the SOFA
project for repair and reuse) provided they are easily
accessible.
If an item is reusable and in good condition, you may wish to
contact either of the charities mentioned below who may be able to
offer you a free collection. See Charity
Donations listed below.
Please note that smaller items must be
contained within sacks or boxes as far as is reasonably
possible.
