Volunteering

Want to use some of your spare time?

Come and join us

Do you have some spare time?
Do you enjoy helping people?
Do you like books?
Do you appreciate a new challenge?

If you have answered yes to two or more questions, you could be just the person we are looking for:

Bath & North East Somerset Libraries offer various volunteering opportunities.  These currently include:

Home Library Service volunteers – you choose books etc and take them to people who are housebound.  You may be their only visitor that day, so befriending is important. People are needed across Bath & North East Somerset.

Home Library Service Volunteer Coordinators – you would help to organise the Home Library Service across the City of Bath, ensuring that volunteers are visiting housebound readers.

Bookstart Volunteers – you will prepare and deliver Bookstart packs for under 5s in Bath.  Bookstart aims to give every child in the UK a lifelong love of books through giving three free Bookstart packs of books and guidance materials to babies, toddlers and pre-school children.

Children’s Service Volunteers – you will help with children’s activities in Bath Central Library, such as story times and Baby Bounce and Rhyme.

Reading Groups Volunteers – you will help to start and run reading groups and/or poetry or reminiscence sessions; some of these will have a particular focus on the socially isolated.  People are needed across Bath & North East Somerset.

For all these opportunities, please contact the Special Services Team on 01225 396304 / 787440, or email libraries@bathnes.gov.uk  or write to Bath Central Library, 19 The Podium, Northgate St., Bath, BA1 5AN.
