What is happening?

During 2008 we will be introducing a great new self service system, so the days of having your books issued with a date stamp and waiting whilst staff stamp every item you borrow, are over.

On this new system you will be able to do the following yourselves:

• Borrow books, CDs and DVDs
• Check your loans and renew them
• Pay hire charges for CDs, DVDs etc
• Pay overdue charges
• Return items
• A print out of your current loans and their return by dates 
• Collect your own reservations*

*This excludes books and other items from outside librarieswest

Are the machines easy to use?

Yes, there are clear step by step instructions and there will still be staff available to help you.

Where can I get help, make an enquiry or request a book?

Any member of staff will be happy to help you or you can ask at the service and information desk about a range of other enquiries. Don't forget you can request books for less online at www.librarieswest.org.uk

Can I not go to the desk to have a book issued or returned?

Unless there is a problem with your book or it is a book outside of librarieswest, all items will need to be processed through the self service terminals. Staff will be unable to issue or return books at the desk.

Will you need to close libraries to install the equipment?

Yes, we will need to close certain libraries on certain dates to install the equipment and you can get more information by getting a leaflet from your local library or library close dates here.
