Introduction
Cycling helps you lead a healthy, environmentally-friendly
lifestyle. It can be a fast way to get to work, and a fun weekend
activity. It also has a key role to play in cutting
congestion on our roads. Bath & North East Somerset Council is
actively working on improving facilities and conditions for
cyclists to encourage people to cycle more.
Cycle Maps & Guides
Cycle West, in partnership with Bath & North East Somerset
Council and neighbouring Councils, have produced cycle maps and
guides to help cyclists to plan their journeys and find the best
routes around the South West.
The map pictured below, which covers cycle routes in the
Bath and North East Somerset area have proved popular with
cyclists, and are available free of charge from local libraries and
most Council Offices.
Maps for the Avon Cycleway and The Bristol & Bath
Railway Path are also available, free of charge, from local
libraries and most Council Offices.
Previews of cycle
maps and further information on cycle
routes in Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North
Somerset and South Gloucestershire, including The Bristol
& Bath Railway Path can also be found on
the Cycle West website.
Please note, due to the detail necessary in
these cycle maps, many of them are not suitable for printing,
but hard copies are available free from most Bath & North
East Somerset Council Offices, and from local libraries.
Two Tunnels Project
A campaign to win a portion of £50 million of Lottery funding to
create new cycle routes in Bath has been successful.
It was revealed in December 2007 that the Two Tunnels project
will be awarded £1m, thanks to the votes of local people.
