Bath & North East Somerset Council Leader joins police operation
On Friday, June 11, Bath & North East Somerset Council leader,
Cllr Paul Crossley, will be joining police officers on their night
time shift as part of Operation Exuberant.
Operation Exuberant takes place during the summer months and
involves the police beefing up their normal mobile community safety
patrols with additional including mounted officers, dog handlers and
Support Group. The patrols crack down on begging, urinating in
public, swearing, fighting, and drinking on the street.
And on the eve of Euro 2004, police officers in Bath will again
be using red and yellow soccer style warning cards as part of their
clampdown on anti-social behaviour
Cllr Crossley said: “Bath & North East Somerset Council is keen
to work with the police to make sure that the streets are safe at
night. This is an ideal opportunity for me to find out what is going
on in the city centre at night and to understand some of the issues
connected with the city’s nightlife.”
At 9.30pm, before the team sets out to patrol the city centre,
there will be an opportunity to meet Cllr Crossley and Inspector
Paul Mogg, of Bath Police.
At the same time, there will also be an opportunity to take
photographs of some of the mounted police and their horses.
