Bath World
Heritage Site photography competition
ARE you up to a
challenge? Can you take a photograph that shows your favourite
aspect of Bath or the countryside that surrounds the city?
Bath & North East Somerset Council,
together with the World Heritage Site Steering Group, is pleased to
announce that the Bath World Heritage Site Photography Competition
is now open.
The Competition is being held to
celebrate the production of the City of Bath World Heritage Site
Management Plan 2003-2009.
The Competition is open to all and
we would welcome entrants from all the different communities of the
district.
Cllr Rosemary Todd, Executive Member
for Sustainability and the Environment, said: “Bath is a World
Heritage Site, loved by people all over the world. Bath & North East
Somerset Council would like to understand how individual people see
Bath – what is special to you, what you think sums up the city best.
“We would also like to see new and
innovative images of Bath’s famous sights – images that make us look
at the familiar places in and around Bath in a new way.”
There are two categories for
entrants: youth (17 and under) and adult (18 and over) with prizes
for best youth entry and best in show, plus runners up.
Entrants will also be asked to say
why they chose that particular image. Winners will be selected by a
judging panel led by Bath-based photographer Neill Manneer.
A selection of entries will be shown
in an exhibition to be displayed in the windows of BHS in Bath
Street, Bath, in September.
The exhibition will be officially
opened at the launch of the Management Plan on Thursday, September
9.
Leaflets, entry forms and posters
are available around the district in libraries, main Council offices
and some community venues.
Details of the competition can also
be seen on the World Heritage pages of the Council’s website
www.bathnes.gov.uk where the
entry form can be downloaded.
Bath & North East Somerset Council
is very grateful for sponsorship in this event from: Jessops,
Amateur Photographer Magazine, Avon Film Productions (Bath) Ltd.,
London Camera Exchange and Walters of Bath. We would like to thank
BHS for the exhibition venue.
The competition closes on Thursday,
August 12, and all entries should be sent with a completed entry
form to Abigail Harrap, World Heritage Officer at Trimbridge House,
Trim Street, Bath, BA1 2DP by 5pm.
