Community
woodland celebrates Council grant success
A COMMUNITY
woodland in Bath is celebrating after receiving a voluntary sector
funding grant of £800 from Bath & North East Somerset Council that
will enable the planting of trees and shrubs to attract butterflies.
This is the second year running that
the group has been successful – having received £1,250 last year –
and to thank the Council, the Chair of Primrose Community Woodland
Trust, Richard Cox, invited Cllr Rosemary Todd, Executive Member for
Sustainability and the Environment, along to the site to have a look
at what the money has been used for so far.
Primrose Hill Community Woodland is
reached from the end of Fonthill Road, in the Lansdown area of Bath
and is open to the public to walk and enjoy the views.
Cllr Todd said: “It was a real
pleasure to be able to visit Primrose Hill and I would like to thank
Mr Cox for inviting me.
“I am delighted that Bath & North
East Somerset Council has been able to support this very worth while
venture by giving them a voluntary sector funding grant.”
Voluntary Sector Funding is
available to groups who are planning projects which conserve
historic buildings, help wildlife or improve the local landscape.
The next round of applications will
start this July and groups in the Bath & North East Somerset
district who would like more details should contact the Council’s
Planning Services’ Partnership and Projects Team on Tel: 01225
477652.
