Council News in
accessible formats at your library
If you’re a
resident of Bath & North East Somerset you’ll be familiar with the
regular delivery of Council News through your letterbox.
While the majority of people take
reading newspapers for granted, there are many people with impaired
vision who might benefit from receiving the information in a more
suitable format. From this spring all of Bath & North East Somerset
Council’s libraries will be carrying large print, audiotape and
Braille versions of Council News, arriving a couple of weeks after
the letterbox deliveries. These accessible versions can also be
sent to your home address free of charge if you prefer, so if you or
someone you know would like to receive Council News in an
alternative format please phone 01225 477495/477413 to be included
or email
communications_marketing@bathnes.gov.uk
Council News is produced four times
a year and delivered free of charge to every home in the district.
As well as a round-up of what’s happening with the Council
there is usually information from the Primary Care Trust, consumer
advice and Community Safety news as well.
Council Leader Paul Crossley said
"This is a facility we hope to see expanded. More than thirty local
residents already receive Council News in either large print, tape
or Braille but I’m sure that there are a lot more people who might
be interested to know it’s available to them. Bath & North East
Somerset Council is keen to make its information more readily
accessible to as many people as possible."
Notes to Editors:
Photographers are welcome to go
along to Marjorie Whimster House in Twerton at 2pm on Thursday,
