With the first round of the Euro 2004 European Football tournament
due to commence this weekend, Bath & North East Somerset Council
is encouraging residents to think about another aspect of Euro
2004 that sometimes gets forgotten about – the many extra cans and
bottles that we produce whilst on the edge of our seats watching
the matches.
Cllr. Rosemary Todd, Executive Member for
Environment and Sustainability said: “The many cans, glass and
plastic bottles that will be used throughout the tournament can
all be easily recycled through the kerbside green box recycling
collection.”
“Bath & North East Somerset Council’s goal is to Rethink
Rubbish and recycle as much as possible and we hope that everyone
will make that their goal too,” she added.
Most of the cans and glass bottles will be recycled into more
cans and glass bottles to be used over again, whilst the plastic
bottles will be made into a variety of products ranging from
furniture to drainage pipes and even the green recycling boxes
themselves!
The cans and bottles are just three of more than 10 items that
can be recycled through the green box recycling collections. To
