Fantasy still in full flow at Bath
Central Library
BATH & North East Somerset Council,
in partnership with Games Workshop, is holding a Lord of the Rings
roadshow at Bath Central Library on Thursday, June 3 from 10am-1pm.
There will be a chance to see some
great miniatures, the 1.5m square games board (complete with trees
and mountains), and re-enact scenes from the films and books.
The initiative is the result of an
innovative partnership between The National Reading Campaign, Games
Workshop and libraries nationwide.
Games Workshop staff will assist
with the game, while library staff will be on hand to suggest
related reading material such as fantasy, adventure books and
graphic novels.
The Lord of the Rings event follows
the first ever Sci-fi and Fantasy Week at Bath Central Library which
has been described as a great success.
Bath & North East Somerset Council
would like to thank the British Fantasy Society, all the authors and
publishers, specifically Gollancz Science Fiction and Chicken House,
who supported us. Due to the success of the week, a similar event is
already being planned for next year.
The Sci-fi week competition has also
been extended until Friday, June 18 to tie in with the Lord of the
Rings event.
All you need to do is design a
book-jacket cover, DVD or video sleeve based on your favourite
Science Fiction & Fantasy book or film.
There are some fantastic prizes on
offer, including signed publications from many of the authors and
artists who appeared throughout the week including Mike Chinn, Ron
Tiner, Katherine Roberts, Simon R Green, Juliet McKenna & Jessica
Rydill.
