Floral thanks to Council’s foster carers

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY

BATH & North East Somerset Council is offering free tickets to this year’s Bath Spring Flower Show to all of its foster carers and family link workers.

The annual event, now in its 18th year, runs in Bath’s Royal Victoria Park during the May Day Bank Holiday weekend.

Sarah Acheson from the Family Placement Team said: “Bath & North East Somerset Council is really delighted to offer this opportunity to carers.

“They give such a good service to our whole community by looking after some of the most vulnerable local children and adults.  The future wellbeing of the children concerned depends in a large part on what these carers have to give.

“Most foster carers will tell you that the reward they are looking for is to know that they have helped a young person at a time when they have needed it.  It is still good, however, to be able to say a small extra thank-you from time to time.

“We know the carers are also pleased as they have been telling us so when they ring to book their tickets.”

Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Family Placement Team is always pleased to hear from anyone interested in becoming a foster carer or Family Link carer.

Foster carers look after children who cannot live with their own family, either on a short or long term basis - some just offer short breaks to children. Family Link carers look after disabled children and adults for short breaks

If you would like to find out more about becoming a foster carer or a Family Link carer for Bath and North East Somerset Council, ring Maggie Carr on 01225 394949.

Cllr Nicole O’Flaherty, Executive Member for Tourism, Leisure and Culture, said: “The flower show is such a great event.  It appeals to all ages and I hope that all the children and foster carers take the opportunity to come.  I am sure they will enjoy themselves.”

Notes to Editors:

Photographers are invited to come along to the nursery in Royal Victoria Park at 11am on Tuesday, April 27 when Sarah Acheson will be presented with the free tickets for foster carers.
