Free access to
child care information on the phone
BATH & North
East Somerset Council has launched a new free telephone service that
can give childcare information to parents and carers.
The service is being provided by the
Council’s Family Information Service as part of National Sure Start
Month.
The Family Information Service holds
information on all the OfSTED registered childcare, early years
education and play across Bath & North East Somerset.
In addition the service can also
give parents and carers details on leisure activities, support
groups who work with parents and carers, information for new parents
and to families who have moved to the area.
Cllr Jonathan Gay, Executive Member
for Education, said: “Bath & North East Somerset Council is very
pleased to be able to offer a free phone service to parents and
carers.
“They will now be able to phone us
as often as they like and at no cost! It is great too, that we are
able to launch this number as part of National Sure Start Month, as
the theme of this year’s event is to raise awareness and increase
understanding of our service to parents and carers.”
The Family Information Service has
also recently been given the Matrix National Quality Award in
recognition of the quality of the information, advice and guidance
it gives and is a member of the National Association of Children’s
Information Services.
