Registration Service relocates
BATH & North East Somerset Council’s
Registration Service is to move to the Guildhall in Bath from its
present premises in Charlotte Street.
As part of a wider review of the
Council’s office accommodation, the Registration Service will
relocate fully to the ground floor of Bath Guildhall in October
2004.
A new marriage room will be created
in the Alkmaar Room and the new accommodation will enable the
service to offer a wide range of civil weddings and other ceremonies
with more flexibility in prices and size of ceremony.
Cllr Malcolm Hanney, Executive
Member for Resource Planning and Support Services, said: “I am
delighted that Bath & North East Somerset Council has agreed on this
move.
“It will increase the ability of the
Service to provide choice for customers, tailored to their specific
requirements.
“Everyone who wishes to use the
service can be assured that their ceremony will be held in fine
heritage surroundings and with the support of staff that are totally
professional and committed to making these important life events so
special.”
Planning for the move is already
under way. Couples wishing to get married and other customers are
being advised of the move so that they may plan their event
accordingly. The registration of births and deaths will also
relocate to the Guildhall.
Superintendent Registrar Judy Stone
said: “Bath & North East Somerset Council is working with its
customers to ensure they are aware of the location for their
ceremony after October.
“Our new brochure describes the
rooms that will be available for all kinds of ceremony.
“The new premises will enable us to
continue the development of our services in high quality
accommodation in the centre of Bath.
“We will be in an even better
position to offer a complete ceremony package based on the Guildhall
or the other fine heritage buildings and locations around the City
Centre. We are all very excited about the move.”
Anyone wishing to book a wedding or
