Sci-fi and
fantasy week at Bath Central Library
SOME of the
world’s most famous fantasy and sci-fi authors will be beaming down
to Bath Central Library from Monday, May 17 to Sunday, May 23 for
its first ever science fiction and fantasy week.
The week has been organised by Bath
& North East Somerset Council and the British Fantasy Society. It
includes readings, book signings and workshops suitable for all ages
and interests.
Things get under way on Friday, May
21 when Katherine Roberts – the acclaimed author of the children’s
fantasy books Seven Wonder Series – will be reading from her latest
release The Mausoleum Murder.
International fantasy author Juliet
E McKenna will be at the library on Saturday, May 22 for a full day
creative writing workshop for adults.
And on Sunday, May 23 people are
invited to let their imaginations run wild at a comic and graphic
novel workshop with artists Mike Chinn and Ron Tiner.
Participants can develop their own
characters and storyboards before they are brought to life before
their very eyes.
On Thursday evening, May 20 Simon R
Green, creator of the Deathstalker series, will be appearing with
Jessica Rydill – fantasy author of Children of the Shamen.
Cllr Nicole O’Flaherty, Executive
Member for Tourism, Leisure and Culture, said: “Bath & North East
Somerset Council is delighted to be working with the British Fantasy
Society in organising the library’s first ever science fiction and
fantasy week.
“More events for the week are still
being confirmed so it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the notice
boards at the library or the website at www.bathnes.gov.uk/libraries
- have fun - it’s sure to be an exciting week.”
Places are limited at each event and
there is a small charge for the workshops to cover the cost of
materials.
