Wild Week 12-20 June 2004

A week of free ‘wild’ events on Local Nature Reserves throughout the area - see attachment

June is one of the best months of the year to see wildlife. With wildflowers, butterflies, birds and bats all in abundance, it’s a shame to stay indoors.

Choose from Minibeast Hunts, Bat Detecting Walks, Hedgehops, Peregrine Falcon Watches and much more. There is something for everyone, and all events are free.

Wild Week is your chance to find out more about your local wildlife. Local Nature Reserves have been specially chosen as some of the most exciting places to see wildlife in our region. We want to encourage everyone to visit at least one Local Nature Reserve during Wild Week, and we are organising a huge number of fun and fascinating events to attract people.

Wild Week is being organised by Wildlife Officers at Bath and North East Somerset Council, South Gloucestershire Council, Bristol City Council and North Somerset Council. With the exception of North Somerset, these Officers are funded through English Nature’s Wildspace! grant scheme.

Wildspace! involves local communities in the improvement, care and enjoyment of their local environment.  It is English Nature's national grant scheme for Local Nature Reserves, with funding from the New Opportunities Fund.
