PRODUCING a wildlife film, making
animal puppets and improving the habitat for local dormice are just
some of the things young people have been doing as part of Bath &
North East Somerset Council’s Youth Web Project.
The 18-month long project has now
come to an end and on Thursday, May 20 the youngsters, from eight of
Bath & North East Somerset Council’s youth centres will be presented
with certificates at a special get-together at the Fry Club in
Keynsham.
Cllr Rosemary Todd, Executive Member
for Sustainability and the Environment, said: “Myself and everyone
involved in the project at Bath & North East Somerset Council are
very impressed with the enthusiasm of the youngsters and hope that
the youth groups and individuals involved will carry this on in the
future.”
At the party, the young people will
be taking part in a ‘Big Brother’ style diary room where they can
report back on the work they have done. Chris Sperring of the Hawk
and Owl Trust will be giving a talk and there will be quizzes and
other entertainment.
The project was carried out by the
Wildthings Youth Web – an exciting project co-ordinated by Bath &
North East Somerset Council’s Youth Service under the umbrella of
the Wildthings partnership which promotes biodiversity.
Notes to Editors:
Photographers are welcome to come
along to the party at the Fry Club in Keynsham from 7pm-7.30pm on
Thursday, May 20.
